Criminal Justice - Law Enforcement Concentration

  • 3 or 4 Year Degree
  • On-Campus

As a criminal justice law enforcement major at Grace College, you’ll be prepared for the criminal justice field, whether you’re interested in becoming a forensic scientist, probation officer, or youth correctional counselor.

At Grace College, we understand that the Bible is the cornerstone of criminal justice, and we incorporate this perspective into the classroom.

You can expect discussion-based classes, in which you’ll study historical crime cases. You’ll work with a group to brainstorm approaches and penalties, then discuss the actual decision and its aftermath. By diving into actual cases, you’ll discover not just the “what’s” of the criminal justice system but the “why’s” as well.

As a criminal justice major, you’ll take core and concentration-specific classes. Your core classes will introduce you to the basics of criminal justice, instructing you in areas such as the criminal justice system, criminology, and victimology.

With a concentration in law enforcement, you’ll dive into the essentials of law enforcement, exploring concepts such as criminology, profiling, criminal investigation, and criminal justice history.

At Grace, we understand that there’s no education like hands-on learning, which is why you’ll complete an internship or practicum as part of the criminal justice law enforcement major. Because of the breadth of local internship opportunities, you’ll be able to specialize in an internship that best matches your career aspirations. Students have interned at probation, parole, law enforcement, and juvenile delinquency centers in the Winona Lake, Warsaw, and Fort Wayne areas.

Whether you choose to work in law enforcement, corrections work, investigation and detective work, probation, parole, or security, a degree in law enforcement will prepare you for any position that requires a thorough understanding of the criminal justice field.
