Film Studies Minor

  • On-Campus

Ever dream of studying film in the heart of downtown LA? As a film studies minor at Grace College, you’ll spend a semester studying in Los Angeles, CA, at the LA Film Studies Center.

During this semester, you’ll take courses from experts, hear from guest speakers in the industry, and complete an internship with professional organizations. This semester-long program is in partnership with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

Your LA and on-campus courses will instruct you in film production, theory, and criticism, as well as related media, such as television and video. And because the LA Film Studies program is in partnership with the CCCU, each and every one of your courses will be taught from a Christian foundation.

The LA Film Studies program includes 16 credit hours. You’ll begin with Faith and Artistic Development, then choose an elective course in either storytelling or screenwriting. Your time in LA will culminate in the Hollywood Production Workshop class, in which you’ll work with a group of students to write, pitch, and produce an original short film. At the end of the semester, you’ll premiere your work at an event attended by industry professionals.

While you’re taking classes, you’ll spend three days a week working an internship with professionals in the field. Participants of the LA Film Studies program have worked with studios such as DDO Artists Agency, Anaheim Studios, Rideback Rise, Special Effects Unlimited, Rough Diamond Productions, and Morningstar Entertainment. Many have earned job offers through their internships or other connections made during the semester.

By the time you graduate, you’ll be equipped for the world of film production, involving video production, film and video editing, and technical writing.
