Educational Excellence & Christ-Centered Community

Presidential Scholarship Days are a great opportunity for qualifying high school seniors to visit our beautiful campus in Winona Lake, learn more about our excellent academics, and compete for generous scholarships. After each event, scholarships are awarded and every student scholar that competes receives a minimum $1,000 per year scholarship.

Student scholars select one of four Presidential Scholarship Days (limited availability) to join us on campus for a student life panel, academic showcase, and interview with our engaging faculty. Optional campus tours or chapel with lunch are also provided.

Results are mailed within one week of each competition date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Preparing for the Event

Directions, campus map, and lodging options.

  • What’s the schedule for the day?
You can find the complete schedule HERE.
  • What is the dress code?
We recommend business casual for your interview. Feel free to dress for success in a way that boosts your confidence and helps you feel like a winner!
  • Can I wear comfortable clothes for chapel or the tour and lunch, and then change into my business casual clothes afterward?
Absolutely. We like to be comfy too!
  • How can I prepare for my interview?
We don’t share interview questions ahead of time. To prepare, come well-rested, confident, and ready to present yourself with poise.
  • Should I bring a portfolio, resume, or anything like that?
No additional materials are required. Your score for the Presidential Scholarship Day is based solely on your interview performance.
  • Can I attend alone?
Yes, but if your parents aren’t very familiar with Grace, the day will be very informative for them.
  • Are my siblings allowed to come as well?
Presidential Scholarship Days are designed for finalists and their parents, so they aren’t as sibling-friendly as a regular visit day. However, if needed, siblings are welcome to join parents at their events. Let us know if you have any questions!
  • I have a friend who is also participating in this event. Can I stay with them all day?
You can enjoy the early arrival options and the Welcome session with your friend, but you won’t be able to stay with your friend all day as each student has a unique interview time/location and Academic Showcase. Our friendly students and tour guides will also be with you throughout the day.
  • I only signed up to bring one parent, but the other one is now coming.
No problem! Just email us at enroll@grace.edu or text 574-766-6004 with updates so we can prepare accordingly.
  • I don’t remember if I signed up to come early for one of the early options.
You can call us at 866-974-7223, email enroll@grace.edu, or text 574-766-6004 to check on that or if you have any further questions.
Event Questions
  • What’s the interview like?
You will have a 15-minute interview with two professors who will ask six scored questions. The questions are standardized, so professors will ask them verbatim and take notes as you respond, to ensure fairness. If time permits, you may have a short Q&A (unscored) at the end. Relax! Our professors are friendly.
  • What are the interview questions?
We can’t share the questions in advance, but don’t worry—they are designed to help you showcase your strengths. Be yourself, and you’ll do great! And don’t worry, there are no questions about nuclear physics! 😉
  • What will my parents do?
Your parents will join you for any optional events before the official start of the day, for the welcome/panel, and for the academic showcase. They will have some excellent parent options while you are in your interview. Check out the schedule to learn more!
  • What is the Academic Showcase?
This group session is led by a professor in your academic area of interest. It’s a great opportunity for you and your parents to learn more about your major and academic life at Grace. Our Christ-centered professors are deeply committed to providing a high-quality education that supports your spiritual growth and career goals.
Post-event Questions
  • When should I expect the results?
Results are tabulated within a couple of days after the competition. You’ll receive your results in the mail within two weeks.
  • How do the scholarships work?
Every student who participates will receive at least a $1,000 per year Winona Merit Scholarship, which will be added to your Academic Scholarship. For those awarded one of the higher scholarships from this event, these will replace your current Academic Scholarship, as they are all significantly higher in value. Additionally, one full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to a single student after all Presidential Scholarship Days are complete. Learn more about the scholarships at www.grace.edu/scholar.
